Munevo is a German MedTech startup that developed the Munevo Drive, a smart glass based solution allows patients to control their wheelchair with head movements.
In order to validate its value proposition and to get a sense of the B2B market potential, Munevo teamed up with MedScaler to perform a Market Validation in the Dutch healthcare market. With the Market Validation being a success, Munevo continued with the Market Integration module and Get Scaled module.
MedScaler and Munevo have been collaborating since July 2019 and have reached several milestones. Munevo has impacted several patients’ lives and sold three Munevo Drives, all reimbursed by the municipality or health insurer. So far, Munevo has contracted two out of sixteen renown rehabilitation clinics for a demo-unit and has good relationships with many occupational therapists, adaptation technicians and distributors. Furthermore, they were featured in ICT & Health and are included on the auxiliary devices website of Vilans. MedScaler and Munevo expect more milestones soon.
N-Vibe is a French start-up that developed a navigation solution for the blind and visually impaired, guiding the user through vibrations by means of two small smart bands. The innovation allows them to focus on surrounding sounds and facilitates easier access to unknown routes.
MedScaler performed the Market Validation, Get Scaled, and the Reimbursement Module in both the Dutch and Flemish market for N-Vibe.
As part of the Get Scaled, a pilot with 16 users was set up in collaboration with well-respected rehabilitation centers in both countries. This pilot generated the first N-Vibe users in the Netherlands and Flanders. Currently, N-Vibe is establishing a collaboration with these rehabilitation centers to further expand the familiarity and access to their innovation. On top of that, they have found a suitable distributor with whom they can further build their Dutch and Flemish expansion.
The French startup Healthy Mind developed an evidence-based therapeutic VR-tool that alleviates pain and anxiety, reduces drug consumption and enhances patients’ recovery.
Healthy Mind decided to team up with MedScaler to enter the Netherlands. Reda Khouadra (CMO at Healthy Mind): “The main reason of tackling the Netherlands is its openness to innovation and the reputation and quality of its healthcare system while being one of top 10 economies in Europe.“
Early 2019, MedScaler performed a Market Validation in the Dutch healthcare market for Healthy Mind. The successful Market Validation was followed by a Market Integration module to see how Healthy Mind could be implemented. Next, a Distributor Search resulted in various matches with distributors. Healthy Mind is now finalizing the Distributor Search in order to get on the Dutch market.
Balanseat is an Israeli start-up founded by an occupational therapist* who missed an essential part in our current rehabilitation and fall prevention equipment. They developed a new mechanism to further advance the care standard for people with mobility problems.
In their preparations to launch their first product and further collect scientific evidence, they identified the Netherlands as a suited market to do this. They had a need for strong market insights and proposition validation at their future potential customers.
With our strong knowledge of the Dutch care and reimbursement system and a lean set up customer validation, we provided them with all the needed knowledge and a list of potential customers. After this, they came to the Netherlands to meet with several of our relations and found three partners for a multicenter clinical trial.
Hemcheck is a Swedish based company that developed Helge – an innovative device, designed to detect hemolysis in blood samples at the point of care.
The collaboration between Hemcheck and MedScaler started off with a Market Validation (MV). During the MV, Hemcheck was validated with multiple healthcare professionals in different submarkets. After a successful MV, MedScaler continued with a Market Integration (MI). Throughout the MI, MedScaler identified two care organizations that were interested in a pilot with Hemcheck. In order to introduce Hemcheck further onto the Dutch market, MedScaler performed a Get Scaled (GS). Throughout the 10-week active outreach of the GS, MedScaler managed to identify four more organizations that were interested in a pilot with Hemcheck.
Ventura Medical Technologies, based in Barcelona, developed Pectus Up: a surgical kit for treating pectus excavatum, one of the most common chest wall deformities. Pectus Up is a minimally invasive technique that connects the implant extra-thoracically to the sternum increasing patient safety and recovery time.
Ventura Medical Technologies wanted to expand its market to the USA. Therefore, MedScaler performed the Market Analysis, Market Validation, and Market Integration for Ventura in the US market. The execution of these modules led to three enthusiastic surgeons wanting to implement the technique within their hospital and if necessary, participate in a pilot study.
Neurab is an Italian startup that has developed the Neurotablet, a neurocognitive rehabilitation device for patients with brain injury. Rather than doing manual exercises on paper, patients and caregivers are offered a personalised, digital exercise program combined with an easy-to-use tablet.
MedScaler and Neurab partnered up in to perform an Market Validation in the Dutch healthcare market. While exploring the initial interest amongst hospitals, centers for rehabilitation care, centers for disabled care and centers for elderly care, we received a lot of positive responses. We are now continuing with the Market Integration module during which, together with experts and healthcare professionals, we will carefully map the implementation setting, buying decisions, stakeholder system and identify potential bottlenecks.
RenalTracker is a start-up on a mission to reduce the prevalence of kidney failure and improve the health of people who suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). They moved from the US to the Netherlands and landed in the Rockstart Digital Health Accelerator.
RenalTracker’s business model was fully based on B2C sales, depending on the willingness-to-pay of individuals. In order for them to reach the next level, they needed to explore the potential of their solution in the B2B market. This in order to delay dialysis for more people and to integrate flawlessly in renal care process.
We were asked by RenalTracker to identify the potential opportunities for their solution in the Dutch care system. After identifying every possible opportunity for RenalTracker to fit in or around existing renal care processes, we started reaching out to the different stakeholders involved to validate our concept propositions. By getting input directly from potential customers or collaborators, we quickly narrowed it down to a shortlist of top opportunities. This enabled Renal Tracker to validate their B2B opportunities and start acting upon them right after.
